Tonja Torgerson: Plagued

MARCH 25 – APRIL 17, 2014

Recent works by Artist-in-Residence Tonja Torgerson

Torgerson’s work examines illness, death and the impermanence of the body through colorful and often welcoming imagery. Her multi-media works explore this collision of attraction and disgust, and how it creates a difficult beauty and a pleasant anxiety.

Torgerson’s artwork is regularly exhibited nationally and internationally, and is included in several private and museum collections including the Weisman Art Museum and the Minnesota Museum of American Art. She received her MFA in Printmaking at Syracuse University and her BFA from the University of Minnesota. Her recent work blends figurative, street art, and traditional printmaking practices. More information about the artist can be found at

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 3rd at 4:30pm with an artist’s talk to immediately follow at 6:00pm in the gallery.
